The Carnival That Ate The World

So this is the hour that ended all time?

And the wave that shook us all.

I stand staring across the future

The lineage of time, becomes infinitely small.

You can win every race that you enter

And fall at every hurdle you see

But the trick of getting it right each time

Is something I know not, luckily.

Staring up at the ferris wheel looming

The bright lights luring you in.

You shook hands with the cotton candy seller

But balked as the fat lady sings.

The music finally played out

You knew it was time to go home

But the devil plays sad tunes inside you

The dream one day of a throne.

For now the gates close sharply

Your mind it starts to swirl,

About all the things you dare to do

At the carnival that ate the world.
